The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
robot vacuums reviews -performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it will cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
